In response to employee feedback from the 2022 Total Rewards survey, Northrop Grumman increased the amount of paid parental leave that you can take to care for a newborn or newly adopted child. Our paid parental leave policy offers employees four weeks (up to 160 hours) of paid time off within the first 12 months following the birth of a child or placement of a child for adoption.

Whether this is your first time welcoming a child to the family or you have done this multiple times before, it’s always a good idea to be prepared. We’ve created tools that aim to provide a guide to going on leave. Please log in to view the toolkit and checklist.

Adopting a child is a joyous occasion, but it can bring unique financial challenges. Through the Northrop Grumman Adoption Assistance Program you can be reimbursed for up to $3,500 for qualified expenses per adoption, with a $7,000 calendar-year maximum. Get complete details here, and begin the process by submitting a request form though Employee Services.

Note: Represented employees should refer to their CBA for details.

Congratulations! You have a new addition to your family. What now? See below for information on how to update your benefits to ensure your entire family is covered.

If you have a newly eligible dependent, you can make certain changes to your benefits, including adding your new child and other eligible dependents to your coverage. You have 31 days from the birth, adoption, or placement for adoption of your child to make certain benefit changes. These changes are effective from:

  • The date the child is born.
  • When legal adoption is final or the date the child is placed for legal adoption.

Please note: If you do not add your new dependent within 31 days, you will not be able to make changes until the next annual enrollment, unless you experience another life event which would permit you to make a change midyear. Review the benefits listed below to see the changes you can make. Once your dependent is added, you will receive information from Northrop Grumman asking you to verify your newly added dependent. Please ensure you respond timely so there is no lapse in coverage.

Please go to NetBenefits when you’re ready to enroll your dependent.
