Starting or growing a family can be one of life’s most thrilling adventures. However, whether caring for a newborn or starting a family forming journey, it can also feel overwhelming when determining who will stay home with your newest family member or facing treatment costs. At Northrop Grumman, we offer Paid Parental Leave and fertility and family-building benefits to help you put your family first.
Curious how these benefits make a real difference? Discover how three of our employees successfully navigated their parenthood journeys with the support of Northrop Grumman.
A Long Journey
Madison Clark-Bennett, a supply chain manager, joined Northrop Grumman two years ago. She was thrilled to learn that her benefits help offset the cost of IVF treatment, as she had been on a 13-year fertility journey. It was a welcome change given the extreme cost of treatment and the fact that her previous employer didn’t offer this benefit. Now, Madison and her husband are expecting twins in February.
Flexibility Matters
Throughout his career at Northrop Grumman, James Woolley, a senior systems engineer, has experienced the joy of welcoming three new additions to his family. While he used Paid Parental Leave for his first two children, the increased Paid Parental Leave, announced in late 2024, provided him with additional time for the birth of his third child. With the option to take leave continuously or intermittently, James opted for a combination of partial days and full days over an extended period, allowing him to be more present for his family during those crucial early weeks.
As Michael Van Oteghem, a systems engineering manager, and his wife prepared for the birth of their second child, they were excited to learn about the company’s increased Paid Parental Leave. With an additional two weeks beyond what was previously offered, Michael took off the first four weeks following his child’s birth and then used the remaining two weeks intermittently. This flexibility allowed him to better support his family and take care of his wife and children. It proved crucial, as he could step in when care arrangements changed unexpectedly.
